I went to my normal yoga class with Barbra...awesome, as always...but then I stuck around for her three hour workshop on chest-openers. It was great..
...Barbra is great! I've learned a lot from her over the months and months that i've been going to her regularly. I guess the biggest thing I've learned is that what I think is standing up straight is not straight. What I thought* was straight is really over-extended backwards and bowed in. Besides being "better for me" and making certain yoga poses & just standing a lot harder, standing real-straight has been noticeablely great for my knees! My tendonitus knee has not bothered me since I started working on standing real-straight...granted, I've not done any dancing, but it's not been agrivated by the weather, so I'm happy!
At any rate, what brings me to poast this today: the chest-opening workshop yesterday was great! I learned quite a bit about keeping my upper body straight and open...without borrowing from my lower back. My sholders are feeling great, and hopefully I can better work on releasing the tension in my chest/back/sholders. At the very least I've learned how to give myself a back masage!

* It's taken quite some time, but I can now recognize what is actually straight...the next step is to get to the point where standing straight not a workout...
