Well...let’s start with West Virginia and Connecticut...I gave you the basics last time, but now for the details...
I guess I’ll start where the weekend started...I got out of class Thursday at 1, thank you Veteran’s Day! I was supposed to go the airport and pick up Cece, Kate’s girlfriend (Kate’s one of my friends from Wellesley that hangs out in Chris’ room), and we were all looking forward to meeting her, but sadly her flight was delayed past the time that we had to catch the train to Alison's house and we didn’t get to meet her. We were all very bummed, but it’s ok, we’ll meet her some other time.
At any rate, because we had this extra time, we went to Quiznos! Go Quiznos! Then hung out on the hall for a time while we waited for 6 o’clock (when we had to leave for the train)
So, it was Alison, Chris, and I...and we took the train down to Alison’s house in Connecticut and spent that night there. Then early (about 5 am early) Friday morning we “stole” her Exploder and drove to Chris’ little town in West Virginia...her parents knew about it, of course, and they were very supportive. They packed us tons of drinks and food, in case they didn’t have anything in West Virginia. It was really nice of them! At any rate, we were really lucky, the directions said to give about 10 hours for the drive, but we didn’t run into any traffic, so we were able to make it in about 8. It was a long drive, but we took turns driving, so it didn’t seem as bad.
So, like I said before, the biggest reason that we went was too meet/see Jamie. She was doing a play...actually, A Midsummer Night’s Dream...so it made the perfect excuse to go. She was the assistant director and played the part of Cobweb, it was really good! At any rate, she was really nice and the four of us hung out all weekend. It was really nice to get away! Chris lives in a really small town and it was really nice that we weren’t in the city and the air was clean and fresh and there were trees and it was just really nice. We got to meet some of Chris’ family, and they were all really nice.
Sadly, Sunday around 2 pm we started the long drive back to Alison's house. This time Chris drove first, but he got really tired really fast, so Alison took the wheel for a long time. It was getting to be my turn, but we were stuck in really bad construction traffic, so we pulled a Chinese Fire Drill...it was really funny, there were people in other cars laughing at us...it was great! Then I drove the rest of the way back to Alison’s house. However, it took us almost an hour to go maybe 10 miles in that construction! And the worst part was that the construction traffic wasn’t the only that we saw...it took us just over 10 hours to make it coming back. Oh well, it was fun! We spent Sunday night at Alison’s and took the train back to Boston the next morning. We were supposed to catch the 9:19 am train back...and we did...except that it was running about 45 minutes late. In theory I should have made it back in time for my one class on Mondays, 6.041, but the silly train...oh well, I didn’t miss anything I can’t learn from reading the book!
I was really tired when I got back to campus, and I’d already missed class, so I went to bed an hour or so early...it was nice…the last full night’s sleep I got all week.
