So, one of the locations of renovation on campus is along the infinite...quite annoying. The construction zone actually extends into the infinite!
Really, this wouldn't be so bad if people at this school had a little more "common" sense...the construction just makes it a little less avoidable.
» You don't stop in the middle of the hall, especially when the hall is only two people wide or is becoming two people wide in less than 3 yards.
» Be aware of oncoming traffic. If the hallway is only two people wide, you should realize you and your buddy take up the whole hall.
» If you are waiting to get into your next class, stand along the damn wall! I know that there a lot of you fuckers waiting to pile into 10-250, but that doesn't mean that everyone on the second floor of building 10 is...it is, after all, a hallway! Please, for the love of whatever you hold dear, leave us pedestrians at least two lanes...we do travel in both directions you know.
(2) Construction Zones Block My Path
One of the most annoying construction projects on campus is the new building for the Koch Cancer Research Center...I know, I know, I feel a little guilty for complaining about the cancer building, but this is all I'll say to that!
At any rate, the problem with this constriction zone is that it's ginormous..it takes up almost the entire block! Here's a picture for you:

Basically, it just gets in the way. The blue dots show paths from EC (home) to going West on Main Street (to Central, Random, Harvard Square, basically: lots of food), and the orange dots show paths from Stat (the general area where 70% of my classes are) to going East on Main Street (to T-Stop, The Coop, food court, etc). The lighter dots show how I would like to travel & the darker ones show the paths that I am currently forced to take. It makes me sad, not because it's more walking, but because it takes longer...and an MIT student is always in a rush...
(3) Noise
This is the most common complaint from students here. As you may or may not know, construction workers start very early, partly because it gets too hot later in the day and partly because that's just the way they do things. And I'm sure you've gotten used to the idea that MIT is not an early rising institution...this means that there are serious issues. All of the construction companies have restrictions on when they can do certain activities: basically, nothing loud or overly disruptive before 9am.
This is all well and good...except that it's not the noisy construction-type activities that wake me up. And actually, most of the construction nose is not that bad when the sound is muffled by the concrete & asbestos walls of EC. The big noise problem with construction zones are the trucks! I mean, big trucks...the ones that beep when you put them in reverse...
That damn beeping! It sounds a lot like most alarm clocks. And there are no restrictions around when they can throw those monsters into reverse! Really, how could there be? But that doesn't mean that it's my biggest issue with construction: beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep...arg.
EDIT: yes, I messed up east & west...

Wow! I thought I had anger issues. You've got me beat today & I'm producing the next generation of Enron Executive. Oh wait, the hall blockers ARE the Enron Execs, huh?
