It's been so long!

It seems like not much has been going on, but I think that it’s really the opposite. I've been so busy that I’ve barely had time to breathe! Yet, not much of it has been of any interest.

The week after the POW/MIA Vigil ROTC participated in the Veterans Day Parade. That was a lot of fun. We marched all over Boston--not that I go to see any of it because my eyes were caged the entire time (I wasn't allowed to look around--changed=looking at one "spot" w/out moving my head or my eyes). It was still a lot of fun and my class even went out to lunch together afterwards.

The week after that we had to go over to Harvard for LLAB. The event was very interesting--even if it did mean having to get up almost an hour earlier. We got to meet the "Harvard Fellows"--basically other Air Force officers from the area. It was really cool to talk to them about the different assignments that they have been on and get advice for the things that I want to do.

That Friday--I guess last Friday--some of the people in my class went on a base visit to Hanscom Air Force Base. It was really cool--we had our next two lessons taught to us by the people who deal with that stuff on a daily basis. (Even better: I'm now excused from AS.100 class for the next two Mondays! Let's hear it for and extra hour of sleep!) That wasn't all we did, we also got to visit the Hanger (where all the planes are kept) and the store where we had the option to buy additions to our uniform. After that we got to eat lunch in the officer's lunch eating place :) and talk to a few of Major Cromer's officer friends. They had a lot of very helpful information for us...specifically: never let me thing of going into Comm. (it does stand for communications, but it's more of a paper pushing sort of thing...I don't want that).

Saturday we had our Hall Thanksgiving. It was awesome! We had 4 turkeys--deep fried, I might add. Tons of stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, the works! It was so good! Also, I (plus two other girls) signed up to make pie! We ended up making it all Friday night so that we didn't get in the way of the food that needed to be served warm, but anyway. We had a lot of fun--turned up the music and everything. There ended up being 10 pies...that's right TEN! One of the girls made two apple and the other made two shew fly and two pumpkin. I made two lemon meringue and two of my favorite Gadiva (chocolate) Angle Pie--so good! They were the first pies to have an entire one be gone and I got tons of compliments on the lemon one. Anyway, I kinda messed up on the chocolate one twice cause I bought the wrong kind of cream: heavy cream (whipped) =whipping cream (whipped)....but once I go the right cream it went very well! Anyway, James got his pictures put on the web so I will give you a link to it: web.mit.edu/houghton/www but you still have to imagine our yummie food--and the leftovers that we still have! :)

Then, yesterday ROTC had a National Security Seminar. It was really interesting--they got an ex-Head of the CIA guy who is also a professor from MIT to talk to us about what that means and how intelligence works. It was very interesting to see what he though about things, especially the WMDs and 9-11 incidents.

Other than that I've been keeping myself very busy between classes and sleeping. I have been hanging out a lot with the people on my hall, we've been going to one of the lecture halls quite frequently to play Nintendo 64...it's so awesome to play in that setting--so much better. Each person's quarter of the screen is bigger than some large screen TVs! So cool! Anyway, I've very glad that Thanksgiving is coming up and we get a couple days off school, but that's still not for another day so I should get going! Bye!
