Fishy...

Let’s see...the last time I updated was...I guess I was at Kate’s house in Southampton. It was fun, the next morning, I woke up early and we finished getting the house ready to have renters, and then we left for New York City.

We took a bus to Grand Central Station. It was so cool! I wish that I had had more time there to look around...or at least less stressed time. We went strait from the bus to the train that we were taking up the coast to Connecticut. It seemed to take all day to get from Long Island to Alison’s house. I guess it seems to take longer when you start later in the day, but really, it’s amazing how you waist a day when you travel!

Friday Alison and I took Draketh to the train station because he had to catch a plain that evening. After that we decided that we would go malling...I needed a pick me up. It was weird...first we went to Home Depot, just to smell the wood, and that put me in a better mood instantly. We laughed when we thought what people would say if they only knew that we were there to smell the wood! It was nice...smelled not as good as home, but much better than Boston. After that we wondered the mall--it was a nice mall, very white. We both ended up getting something...I forget now what I got, but oh well!

Saturday morning we woke up at the crack of dawn...ok, not really, we got up at 7:30 so that we could leave for Fish’s at 8:30...however we didn’t get out of the house until 9:30. :) We still made it to Fish’s at 10:30...it was special, everyone thought it would take a lot longer to get there than it did--I looked at the distance and it looked comparable to from Pollock to Sac. and said it’d be a little more than an hour...and who was right! At any rate, we made it to Fish’s apartment.

One of the first thing Fish says to us is along the lines of “can we go get some sheets?”...Alison and I burst of laughing! He’d apparently lived there all week without any sheets, just the blanket. To be fair though, the boy doesn’t sleep under sheets, but likes to have something covering the bare mattress. So, we were off again--on a search for sheets. It was fun...sometimes Fish is such a two year old! We finally found a Kohl’s and some “scholastic blue” sheets for him. Mission accomplished, Alison and I decided it was time to do a little shopping! She needs shirts for work, and just didn’t feel like following fish around as he looked at kakis. They were having a big sale and I found a really cute halter top that I liked, so I bought it in three colors :) and found a pair of Levi’s in my size/cut. I couldn’t resist them! That’s one thing I love about Levi’s I don’t even need to try them on as long as I remember the right size--all I have to do is “hem” (aka staple) the legs up two inches and they’re perfect!

Eventually shopping was cut short by our obsessive tendencies...Fish and I found the ties. We spent about 20 minutes re-matching the ties and shirts so that they looked better. There really is a wrong and a right shirt for every tie, and half the ones in the store were wrong. It was actually really funny to think about later, but at the time it was therapeutic to make them happier.

After Alison found us (and drug us out of the store), we were feeling a little hungry so we stopped at this little pizza shop and had a really, really good pizza! It was “White Spinach Pizza”--meaning that it was a Spinach Pizza with no sauce. It was very, very tasty! I mean, worth raving about tasty!

Aaron Bader, the GRT on my hall (he’s a graduate student in charge of making sure we don’t kill ourselves or each other, find ourselves fighting the institute all by along, etc...basically he’s an RA who doesn’t advise us about classes), was in Connecticut for a Scrabble Tournament (he’s a big Scrabble person). He was staying about 20 minutes from Fish, so we decided that he should come to see Cars with us. Alison, Fish, and I headed over to the Hotel early and hung out because Bader still had one game left. They had really good melon, and Fish was mortified that Alison and I were eating the Scrabble player’s melon. It was really funny! Especially when I fed him a piece and he said, “damn, that is good.” We were too lazy (and cheep) to go drive around the area for an hour waiting for Bader, so we took a nap in the middle of the hotel.

When he was finally done, the four of us went out to dinner and a movie. Cars. It was awesome! Such a good movie...Pixar wins! Click and Clack...Lary the Cable Guy...tractor tipping...omgs! So good!

After the movie we went back to Fish’s apartment and ate pizza and watched movies. It was fun! The next morning we ate the ends of the pizza and played Munchkin again...so much Munchkin all the time! And the weather was amazing, so we went for a walk later in the afternoon. It was beautiful!

Now I’m on the train, headed back to Boston where I will spend tonight talking to Amy, tomorrow running around to several appointments and making sure every last thing is taken care off, and then back home to California.
