Ok, I was told that maybe I should explain the AFROTC acronyms {AFROTC- Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps} so that is what I'm going to do here. Try to explain how things are kinda set up and what's these things stand for. I'm not sure how good I'll do, but you can always go to our web site: 365th Cadet Wing or the Official ROTC Web Site ......ok, well our Cadet Wing (#365) is divided in to 3 Squadrons (I'm in Squadron 3). In addition to being divided into squadrons, we are divided between the GMC and POC. GMC=General Military Curse-This is those of us who are first and second years. We have not been to basic yet and we have no real rank other than cadet. The GMC is also divided into 2 parts: AS.100 and As.200 (this is just the class that you are in....MIT does all classes by numbers, well, those are the numbers for the first and second AS (Air Force) Classes. AS.100 is general military customs and courtesies and AS.200 is the history of the Air Force.) POC=Professional Military Course-These are the people who are in their 3rd and 4th years, so they have been to Field Training and they are actually preparing to be officers in the Air Force. You can’t just be in the POC, you have to be accepted. They discuss all of this on the website a lot better, but that is the jest of it. They've more than likely have been in the program since their froshy year. Or wing is entirely student run, with the exception of the watchful eyes of Sergeant Meno (he's the best!) and the rest of the Cadre (actual Det [Detachment] 365 personnel--officer's[who do the teaching], enlisted [who keep everything running smoothly], and Mrs. Ann Cronin [who is really civilian "administrative assistant" assigned by MIT]), and the POC are the people who run everything and make the plans for what we will do during LLAB (Leadership Laboratory) and PT (Physical Training) and any other activities/trips that we may do. I think that that is all of it....the important stuff anyway, if there is something else that comes up I'll try to explain it. Oh, yeah. When I'm talking about another cadet in writing, rather than saying 'Cadet {last name}' you can write C/{last name}....It makes it a lot easier! And, the whole military time, well, I only use it when they use its, so if I’m told the time in military time I remember it in military time, and if I’m told it in regular time, I remember regular time....sorry, I didn’t mean to confuse anyone! Well, I think that that's it. Bye!

Thanks for the updated info. AFROTC sounds very interesting. We're all so very proud of you.
Who is this anoymous? Why doesn't he identify himself?
Hey. Congratualations on being in ROTC. I do it myself, or perhaps I should say I did it myself. It was educational, fun and good for me to boot, and I hope you're finding it the same.
You guys have 3 squardons? Jeez. It sounds like you've got a big wing at MIT.
You don't know me, and I was just paging through the blogs, but when I saw a fellow AFROTC Cadet, I just had to post and say keep up the good work, and good luck.
She just read my blog....It was the first chance she got! and no, my room is anything but clean!! It's been a long week! :)
