I think that I’ve actually caught myself up...wow! Ok, well, kinda.
This weekend is a four day weekend. Yippie! I love my schools and its ability to make sure that we get time off...
This weekend has been quite uneventful so far. This weekend Amy and I chose to do our weekly dinner on Friday night.** We also took Alison, Gina, and Leon with us [two girls from my hall and Gina’s boyfriend]. It was fun we went to Border Cafe, a nice little place in Harvard Square that serves Cajun and Mexican food. It’s very yummie. Because everyone’s class schedules are different we decided to go out to eat at 5, so I went to bed an hour early and got up two hours early. However, I was still really tired, I guess the week was more eventful than I thought (even though I didn’t do anything). After dinner, we came home and hung out for a while and I went to bed at 8pm, hours early. The only problem was that I’ve trained my body to like my four hour blocks of sleep, and as a consequence, I woke up three and a half hours later and was up for the night.
I picked on Fish with Jackie, a quite fun and entertaining past time. Then I went into Chris’ room and hung out in there and watched X-Files with Chris and Alison for a few hours. It was a lot of fun and I finally got done with season one! About half way through the last episode of season one we heard a large boom and I figured it had something to do with my friends on 3rd, the floor below us, so when the season was over I went down there to find out what was going on. It was interesting. When I got down there (it was 7:30 am) they were getting ready to leave for IHOP...early morning IHOP runs are the best! I ended up going with them and had a wonderful breakfast. After which we all came back and went to bed.
So much for keeping my sleep schedule this weekend.
When I woke-up later that morning (after a long 5 hours of sleep), I actually started getting down to work on my essay that was due today at noon when I got up to take a short five minute break to get some food, when the fire alarm went off. Yup, that actually makes four fire alarms in four days—we’ve had one every weekend! The only good thing about this one was that it was actually at a reasonable time (two of the others were at 6am and the third was also early in the morning, by our standards). The funny thing about this one was that 3rd was responsible, except that all my friends were still sleeping! It woke every one of the guys’ I’d gone to IHOP with up!
Saturday night Vimal (crusty ex-hall member) came back to visit us and give a State of The Pants Address. It was really nice of him. Basically he came back and fixed us all a really good dinner and did a PowerPoint presentation that talked about The Pants. [The Pants history is long and I don’t feel like getting into it now]
Eventually I was able to get back to working on my essay, but it took a lot of time to finally get focused. I again ended up in Chris’ room watching X-Files, except that this time I was also writing my paper. Eventually, after many episodes of X-Files I was finished with my paper and able to go to be.
And that’s where I am now, I’ve spent all of today hanging out, talking to people, and working on updating my blog. Ok, so I’ve been multi-tasking...watching TV and typing at the same time...
For tomorrow, I’ve planed another trip to Dim Sum. There were a couple frosh in the lounge talking yesterday about being interested in going so I told them we would plan one for this weekend. Of course Karen is also going with me this time and there are again about 8 or 9 people going with us. It’ll be great!
Other than that the next two days are reserved for studying and preparing for this week. With any luck I will get a chance to continue painting my room, but I’m not counting on it.
Oh yeah! And there will be many more hours of X-Files! My goal is to watch the entire series by the end of IAP (I’m counting on a lot of free time during IAP)
** I just realized that I’ve not talked about our weekly dinners yet. So this term I now have two weekly dinners that help me feed myself well. There is still the Thursday Night Dinner, although this term it happens on Wednesday. It’s really nice to relax and cook with my friends in the whole pot-luck kinda way. The new weekly dinner thing is actually just between Amy and me—every weekend we go out to dinner at some place around Boston. Sometimes we will invite a lot of people to come with us, other times just a few people, and occasionally we’ll go out just the two of us, Most of the time it’s someplace new, but sometimes we’ll go to someplace we haven’t been to lately. Lately we’ve been out for Ethiopian (at two different Ethiopian places), Afghani [that was so good!], and now Cajun. I feel like I’m missing one, but oh well, it’s always fun! I really hope that she gets into grad school here in Boston so that we can continue this next year, after she graduates.
